Waste management grand périgueux

I’m on holiday in Greater Périgueux, how do I manage my waste?

To help you manage your waste more effectively and in the interests of environmental awareness, the Syndicat mixte départemental des déchets de la Dordogne (SMD3) has decided to put an end to traditional waste collection. To do this, the Syndicat mixte des déchets de la Dordogne has set up a system of voluntary drop-off points (PAV) accessible to almost all residents of the département, thanks to a named access card that regulates the number of times the PAVs are opened each year, thus enabling better management of your daily waste.

So what do I do when I’m just passing through?

To this end, the SMD3 is offering a Bluetooth mobile application called “SMD3-mon service déchets”, which allows users living in the Dordogne and, above all, tourists to open household waste bins and pay online. The aim of this application is to allow everyone to easily open household waste bins equipped with access control using a Bluetooth connection on a smartphone.

Visiting tourists who use the mobile application log in as “Tourists” and pay €5.58 to open it. The “SMD3 – mon service déchets” application can be downloaded from Play Store and Apple Store.

For those who do not have a smartphone compatible with the application, an access card is available for this purpose. It can be purchased directly from tobacconists and partner tourist offices for €5.58 (list of tourist badge distributors). The tourist offices in Greater Périgueux are as follows:

  • The Greater Périgueux Intercommunal Tourist Office in Niversac in the commune of Boulazac Isle Manoire
  • Sainte-Alvère Tourist Information Office
  • Vergt Tourist Information Office
  • The Truffle Ecomuseum in Sorges.

This card entitles you to open the drum of a household refuse collection point once, and to deposit 2 black 30-litre bags. Recycling bins for packaging, paper, glass and cardboard are accessible FREE OF CHARGE and without restriction.

For more information on how to use the mobile application, a tutorial is available on the SMD3 website.

The Greater Périgueux Intercommunal Tourist Office advises you to set up and create your account in advance of your visit to the available bins, particularly at your place of stay or accommodation, so that you are fully operational when you drop off your waste at the bin.

How do I sort?
